Have you ever lost something? Maybe you misplaced your cell phone, a
wallet, or a set of keys? Did you ever get
lost on the way to your destination because of a wrong turn or missing an
important street sign? Perhaps you lost
an important file on your computer due to a power surge. There are many things in life that are easily
lost. Small items roll underneath the
seat in the car, items fall between the sofa cushions, and important papers become
lost in the shuffle of incoming papers. Due to unforeseen circumstances, children often find themselves lost in
a grocery store or at a mall. Hopefully
someone comes along who can help them find their parents, alleviating the panic
and distress caused by the unexpected separation of parent and child. Without doubt, inexplicable joy ensues when
the lost is found!
Even the Bible tells stories of people losing things. Take the shepherd who loses his sheep, for
example. He leaves ninety-nine sheep
behind just to find the lost little lamb.
What about the women who lost one of her silver coins? After finding it, she calls her friends and
neighbors over for a celebration. One
man spends all of his money on prostitutes and wild living. He gets to the point where he even craves a
meal of pig’s food, due to lack of food during famine. Finally, he returns home. He asks his dad to make him a servant because
he is no longer worthy to be called a son.
Instead of become angered, his dad says, “Bring the fattened calf and
kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead
and is alive again; he was lost and is found” (Luke 15:23-24 NIV).
In the same way that the shepherd, the woman, and the father
rejoice at finding what was lost, the angels in Heaven rejoice when a man or
woman gives their life to Christ. The
Bible says, “There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents
than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent” (Luke 15:7
NIV). When someone makes the decision to
serve the Lord with all of their heart, they become a child of God. Unlike the child who may find themselves lost
in a sea of strangers, as Christians, we are never lost. We are never out of the embrace of His loving
arms. Amid so much separation in this
world, I am thankful to know that nothing can separate us from the unconditional
love of Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:38-39 (NIV) says, “For I am convinced that neither
death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the
future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else
in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is
in Christ Jesus our Lord.” What an
amazing promise. No matter what we
encounter in life, we will always have the love of God. Whether storms, wars, or other calamities
surround us, we can rest assured that we are inseparable from the vast power
and love of Jesus Christ.
Through every circumstance that life throws our way, Jesus will
send His angels to encamp around us, protecting us from harm. Why? Because
that is how much He loves us. I John
3:16 says, “This is how we know what love is: Christ gave His life for us.” Love is more than a word. It is an action. Christ did not die on the cross to gain
notoriety nor to prove a point. Jesus Christ
died to cleanse our sins, to redeem us, and to give us life everlasting in
Heaven with Him. If you had been the
only person on the face of this earth, Christ would still have given His life
for you.
No matter where you are today, you are not out of the reach
of the love of Jesus Christ. You may be
in a prison, a hospital, or even a war-torn village. Wherever you are, no matter what you’ve done,
Jesus Christ loves you. Call on the name
of Jesus Christ and you will find redemption through Him. Salvation comes only through the one true living
God. Jesus said, “I am the way and
the truth and the life. No
one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NIV).
Don’t wait until tomorrow, for it may be too late. Ask Jesus Christ to come into your
heart. It is the most important decision
you will ever make. Stop living your
life, feeling as if you are lost in a sea of despair. There is hope in Jesus Christ. Through Jesus, the lost is found and sorrow
turns to joy! Just like the little child
who goes astray and is reunited their parents, today is the day when you can be
united with your Heavenly Father. A
personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the most priceless gift anyone could
ever receive. And it is a gift that you
cannot misplace and better yet, no one can take it away from you! Nothing will ever separate you from the
infinite love of Jesus Christ!
In Christ’s Love,

Have you ever asked someone for a little help? Maybe you needed your husband to move a heavy
piece of furniture, or perhaps you were looking for someone to repair the leaky
faucet in your kitchen. Whether or not
we like to admit it or not, we all need some help at one point or another. Other times, the word help is not just used
as a way to gain a favor, but instead, it is used during a time of crisis. Think of a pilot who uses the “Mayday!”
signal. There are times in our lives
when we feel as if we are on a plane that is running low on fuel, heading
straight for the ground. Life may seem
to be spiraling out of control. It is in
these moments that we need more than a helping hand. We need divine intervention. In these moments of desperation, we need to
cry out, “Jesus, help.”
On January 2, 1982, a premature baby girl entered this world
in the midst of what seemed like a hopeless situation. The doctors had given up hope for the little
girl’s survival, since she was essentially lifeless. Instead, they focused on doing what they
could for her mother, who was also having complications from the labor and
delivery. This little girl had no chance
of living a happy, normal life. But her
parents knew that God was faithful.
Struggling to cope with the situation, they didn’t rely on some eloquent
prayer written with formal language. They
simply prayed, “Jesus, help.”
At that moment, the little girl began to cough, like a
little kitten. The doctors were amazed,
yet some of them said that she would be no more than a vegetable even if she
did survive. Forget going to college or
doing anything productive with her life.
But her parents didn’t care. They
only wanted her to live. After spending
several weeks in the neonatal center, the parents of this little girl finally
were able to bring her home. Now, at the
age of 32 years old, she has since completed six years of college with honors,
earning a 4.0 GPA on her Master of Science degree in English. Obviously, the doctors were wrong. God had other plans for this little
baby. Jesus heard her parent’s cries for
help and He answered them.
That little baby was me.
I was born lifeless. God raised
me up and gave me life. I am living
proof that the same God who performed miracles in Bible times still performs miracles
today. Nothing has changed. All of God’s promises are true, even in the
year 2014. The Bible says if we have
faith as small as a mustard seed, we can move mountains. My parents had great faith. The medical world said that I would not
live. But through faith, my parents
asked Jesus to help. They sent up a “Mayday”
call, if you will, to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He heard their desperate cry for help. Because of the miraculous power of Jesus
Christ, I am here today.
There was no ceremonious prayer offered up. It didn’t take an army of deacons or church
elders. No music was even played. Two people prayed, “Jesus, help.” Jesus doesn’t require pomp and circumstance. He only requires faith. Whatever you are going through, Jesus Christ
wants to help you. There is no situation
beyond the reach of Jesus. He can heal
the sick, mend broken hearts, and restore lives. Jesus loves you more than you could ever
imagine. Call on the name of Jesus
Christ. Ask Him for help. He will help you, just like He helped me the very
day I was born and continues to help me every day of my life. He will hear your cry for help. All it takes is a little faith and a simple
prayer. Your life will be changed
forever. Don’t delay. Stop what you’re doing right now and ask
Jesus to help you today.

Have you ever checked into a hotel, only to find that your room wasn’t ready yet? Or maybe when you got to your room, you were greeted with one bed instead of two, no towels, or something else that was askew? Earlier this month, I checked in to a hotel, only to find that the lock on the door did not work. In the second room, the shower didn’t work. In the third room, there were ants. Problem after problem, yet with each move, I knew I was closer to something better. While it may have had ants in the beginning, the third room that I was blessed with was a gorgeous 2-room suite. All I had to do was have patience, trusting that each problem would be resolved. I knew that God would take care of me, despite the shortcomings of my current surroundings.
In reality, this world is very similar to a hotel room. Every morning, God wakes us up and we go to work, to church, to school, or some other location. While all of these things are wonderful, they are temporary locations to which we attend. Just like a reservation at a hotel, none of these things will last forever. And just like there may be maintenance problems in a hotel room, we often awake to find various problems we need to solve or many bumps in the road that we must navigate. Perhaps you had a flat tire on your way to work, or lost your cell phone, or accidentally spilled something on your new coat. Many things in life cause us to become upset, lose patience, and often give us the desire to simply give up. But just like the lock and shower that could be fixed and the ants that could be dealt with in my hotel room, the things that happen to us on a daily basis can be resolved quite easily as well. One by one, God will send the answer to every problem in our lives, no matter how insignificant. He cares about each and every aspect of our lives, right down to the moments we trip over our own two feet or get tongue tied when talking to someone during the course of our day.
You may be reading this, thinking, “Jennifer, there’s something much bigger going on in my life. I’m at the end of my rope and there is nothing that could ever fix this problem. It is a hopeless situation.” Don’t be discouraged. Jesus will give you hope, even for the most hopeless situations. Maybe you have a loved one who is undergoing cancer treatments, or perhaps your son or daughter could be drifting away from you. Your heart could be broken in two because your husband or wife is having an affair. You may be wondering how you will pay next month’s rent, or where you will find money to pay for basic necessities like food and water.
I want to encourage you today. I know firsthand that there are some things in life that seem insurmountable. As a little girl, I sang at the funerals of my two baby brothers. I experienced the loss of three grandparents. Five years ago, my sweet Mama went to Heaven. I have spent many weeks in the hospital, wondering when I would ever get to come home. But through it all, God has remained faithful to me. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He will never give us more than we can bear. He has a plan for my life and I strive every day to live according to His perfect will. While this world has its share of trials and tribulations, one thing never wavers. That is God’s love for you and me. He loves you and me more than we could ever comprehend.
Along with God’s unconditional love, we can take comfort in the fact that this life here is temporary. Just like the contents of a hotel room, we do not own this world. We are not here to stay forever, so the curve balls that life throws our way are truly just temporary inconveniences, no matter how difficult they may seem. They are not the end goal in life. The Apostle Paul wrote in the book of 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NIV), “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” The troubles we encounter in this world are just momentary setbacks, if you will, in comparison to the incomprehensible joy that awaits us in Heaven.
Maybe you are reading this, wondering how you could ever get into Heaven. You may have done things that you regret and you may feel that you are not good enough. The Bible says that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 NIV). Based on this verse, there is not one person who is perfect. Not one of us is good enough on our own. But Jesus Christ, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, died on a cross so that our sins could be washed away. His sacrifice paid all of our debts. Call on His name today and repent of your sins. Ask Him to be the Lord of your life and save your soul. If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you will gain eternal reservations in Heaven with Him. And unlike a hotel room, there will be no checking out. Instead, we can joyfully anticipate the very moment that we walk through Heaven’s gates when we are finally checking in!
In Christ’s Love,
Jennifer
Have you ever truly thought about what people see when they look at you? Do they see someone who is sorrowfully sad or joyfully happy? Do they see someone who is unfriendly or friendly? Do you portray someone who is discouraged or contented? Do they see someone who is a dying disgrace to God’s love or a living testimony of God’s love?
In life, we encounter many obstacles. There are times when no peace can seemingly be found. It is in these moments of complete hopelessness, though, that we need to cling on to the hand of God even tighter than before. He always provides the peace that may seem so elusive. He is the Prince of Peace.
In life, we encounter many obstacles. There are times when no peace can seemingly be found. It is in these moments of complete hopelessness, though, that we need to cling on to the hand of God even tighter than before. He always provides the peace that may seem so elusive. He is the Prince of Peace.
As Christians, we still encounter trials. These trials come in many forms. Even in these times when we are tested, we must stand firm. The Bible consistently uses the phrase “stand firm.” We need to stand strong when Satan comes through with his deceptive storms and powerful winds. We are not to waiver, but to stand strong in the Lord.
Furthermore, we need to remember that we are living testimonies of the saving grace of Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior of the world. When you are at work, do coworkers see your testimony? Or do you become frustrated easily because someone has not met their deadline, delaying the completion of your own daily tasks? When you sit in the pew at church, do the other members of the church see your testimony? Or do you remain focused on the fact that the preacher has preached ten minutes past twelve, which will cause you to lose ten minutes of your afternoon naptime?
It may be true that we should not worry what “they” think. However, we do need to worry about what God thinks. How many times have you disappointed our Heavenly Father? Did you ever skip church, cheat, use inappropriate language, or lie about something or someone? When was the last time you took five minutes out of your busy schedule to thank Him for waking you in the morning?
One Sunday morning in a small church in Western North Carolina, I had the privilege of hearing a precious man of God deliver his testimony in song. This gentleman did not seem to care what “they” saw when they looked at him, but at the same time, his living testimony of God’s faithfulness shined for all to see.
Slowly, he ambled up to the platform with some much-needed assistance, as his physical body was visibly not what it once had been. He stood there, open and vulnerable, and humbly started to sing. His stance was one that seemed as if he was holding his hands out in front of him, as if reaching up to the Lord as a child would reach up to their father to receive a loving embrace. The song he chose to sing was “Because He Loved Me.” He wasn’t concerned with stage presence. He didn’t worry about anything. He just sang.
Chills ran up and down my spine. Goosebumps covered my arms. There were no musical accompaniments. There were no special lighting effects. He was not wearing a designer suit. He did not introduce the song. He did not even make eye contact with the audience. Yet, it was one of the most anointed performances I had ever witnessed.
I had never met this man. I had never spoken with him. Nevertheless, through this one song, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was one of the saints of God. I was completely reassured, that while I have no guarantee that I will see him again on this old earth, I know that I will see him one sweet day in Heaven, worshiping at the throne of God.
This older man does not know of the profound impact he had on my life. His living testimony reached across the sanctuary and extended beyond the doors of the church. We should all follow his example and strive to be living testimonies of God’s love. It doesn’t take fancy clothes. It doesn’t take renowned fanfare. It doesn’t take any additional trappings. All it takes is an individual who is willing to be used by God.
Are you willing to be a living testimony? Can you reach out to others, using the abilities God has given you? Do you want others to see Jesus in you? Step out on faith today. Share a smile. Encourage someone. Spread the joy of the Lord. Make a difference in the lives of those around you. I challenge you to let others see a living testimony in your life today!
In Christ’s Love,
Jennifer
